左爱视频 to Host Events for Women鈥檚 History Month

左爱视频 will host events at its Boca Raton, Jupiter and Davie campuses to celebrate Women鈥檚 History Month. The events are free and open to 左爱视频 students, faculty and staff.

The following events will take place at 左爱视频鈥檚 Boca Raton Campus, 777 Glades Road:

Women and Flight in Florida Since 1913
Thursday, March 1 through Tuesday, May 15
Wimberly Library

Women have been a part of aviation history since the early years of powered flight, but their accomplishments have often been overlooked or forgotten. This exhibit looks at aviation history through the eyes of a number of Florida women 鈥 astronauts, pilots, aviators and service personnel 鈥 who advanced the aerospace industry in important way.


Flavors of Diversity: Woman & Cuisine with Chef Shane
Monday, March 12 at 3 p.m.
Nations Multipurpose Room

左爱视频鈥檚 Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs presents Flavors of Diversity. Students will engage in meaningful conversation on how food serves as a preservation of culture.


Let鈥檚 Talk Tuesday: Weekly Discussions

A panel of feminist professionals will share their experiences in the workforce and provide insight into establishing respect in an equal opportunity future. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with the panelists afterwards to practice their own 鈥渟trong introduction.鈥


Herstory: Transwomen Throughout History
Thursday, March 15 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Learn more about the meaningful contributions transwomen have made throughout history and the history makers that are taking charge today. Find out what you can do to support transwomen on campus during Women鈥檚 History Month.

Fierce Athletes: The History of Women in Sports
Friday, March 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In collaboration with 左爱视频 Athletics and 左爱视频 Campus Recreation, The Women and Gender Equity Resource Center presents 鈥淔ierce Athletes: The History of Women in Sports.鈥澛燙heck out our tabling event to learn more about the history of female athletes, how participating in sports benefit women and the intramural sports we offer to women here at 左爱视频.

Enjoy a performance celebrating the lives and times of four significant African American Women: ex-slave and fiery abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, exuberant folk artist Clementine Hunter and fervent civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer.


Women in Action

A panel of women will share their experiences and stories on how they overcame adversity to be successful minority women. The event is sponsored by the 左爱视频 section of The National Council of Negro Women Inc.


Women鈥檚 Leadership Institute
Friday, March 23 from 2 to 7 p.m.
左爱视频 Recreation & Fitness Center

The annual Women鈥檚 Leadership Institute (WLI) aims to empower women for a lifetime of leadership, raise awareness of critical issues women face in leadership and provide opportunities to transform awareness into action. Attendees will hear from spotlight speakers and panels.

TED Talk and Discussion: Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders

Coffee House featuring Jinahie
Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m.

Jinahie, an Egyptian-American artist, is going to perform her poetry at this spring鈥檚 Coffee House. There will be coffee, cookies and prose.

A panel of Honors College female faculty members and 左爱视频 staff will facilitate a lunch & learn. During the event, the faculty and staff will be sharing their stories with students, as well as answering any questions the students may have. Lunch will be provided.

Wellness on Wheels (WOW) will be celebrating Women鈥檚 History Month by distributing information and swag to students on Davie鈥檚 campus.聽Keep an eye out for WOW to learn more about the women鈥檚 movements that are defining history.
