Ƶ Presents ‘Only One’ Play About Sex Trafficking
Ƶ’s in the , along with the in , will present “Only One” on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 and 6 p.m. in Ƶ’s University Theatre, Boca Raton campus.
Written and directed by undergraduate student Abigail Howard to raise awareness about human sex trafficking in the U.S., specifically in Florida, the 45-minute play will be followed by an expert panel discussion on sex trafficking.
“This play has opened the eyes of so many people that are either an audience member or even an actor,” said Howard. “It’s truly special to see the actors connect with each character and learn more about human sex trafficking in the process of doing so, this play challenges perspectives in order to realize the reality of trafficking.”
Howard, 21, is passionate about raising awareness of sex trafficking in our community. She started her own nonprofit organization, , to benefit safe houses for sex trafficking victims when she was 18 years old.
“Abigail is wise beyond her years and her passion to help victims of sex trafficking by both spreading awareness and starting at non-profit at such a young age is inspiring,” said , assistant professor in Ƶ’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. “Her passion to shed light on this issue is making a positive difference in the world.”
