×ó°®ÊÓƵ’s Department of Communication Science and Disorders will host free hearing screenings in honor of National Audiology Awareness Month on Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the Communications Disorders Clinic, fourth floor of the College of Education building, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. No appointments are necessary.
Hearing tests provide a quick way to detect hearing loss. Those who pass the screening are presumed to have no hearing loss, while those who do not pass will need a more in-depth evaluation by an audiologist.
It is estimated that 30 million Americans suffer from hearing loss, and more than half of people with hearing loss are younger than age 65. It is the most common work-related injury, and the third most common health problem in the United States.
