The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program at 左爱视频 recently competed in the virtual National Model United Nations competition and finished second overall out of 100 competing universities.

The Leon Charney Diplomacy Program, which trains students in world affairs, dispute resolution and debate, was established in 1996 and is a unit of the Peace, Justice & Human Rights Program. To date, the program has won 47 national and international awards for academic excellence.

鈥淥ur student-delegates have worked incredibly hard preparing for this competition. They showed enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence,鈥 said Annette LaRocco, Ph.D., assistant professor of political science and associate director of the Leon Charney Diplomacy Program. 鈥淲e are very proud that this well-deserving delegation achieved the program鈥檚 best ever result in the New York City competition, especially amidst the challenging and unusual circumstances of a remote conference.鈥

In 2017, the program was named to honor the diplomatic legacy of Leon Charney, who played a key role in the 1978 Camp David Accords. The program will compete next in November where they will defend their 2020 national title win.聽
