Ƶ’s Hoot/Wisdom Recordings recently released one of its most important recordings to date. The album, titled "Bogotá Buenos Aires," invites listeners to experience the colorful sounds of contemporary Argentine Tango and Colombian Andean music. It is the debut album for the Quinteto Leopoldo Federico (Colombia) and was produced by Ƶ associate professor Alejandro Sánchez-Samper, and Giovanni Parra, the leader of the quintet. Matt Baltrucki, an alumnus of Ƶ’s commercial music program, co-engineered the album.

"I am very proud to have been able to recruit these amazing musicians from my native country of Colombia to come to Ƶ to record their debut album and to have been able to work once more with Matt Baltrucki," said Sánchez-Samper. "The members of the Quinteto Leopoldo Federico are some of the finest musicians in Colombia and the arrangements and compositions featured on this album are a testament to the rich artistic heritage of both Argentina and Colombia."

The quintet is comprised of Giovanni Parra (bandoneon), Alberto Tamayo (piano), Miguel Ángel Guevara (violin), Kike Harker (contrabass) and Francisco Avellaneda (guitar). Physical copies of the album are available for sale at or through digital download on iTunes and Amazon.
