左爱视频 will commemorate Constitution Day with a series of events on Thursday, Sept. 15

左爱视频 will commemorate Constitution Day with a series of events on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The events will take place in Democracy Plaza, located adjacent to the Culture and Society Building, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. All events are free and open to the public.

鈥淚t is important to remember the wisdom and bravery of the 39 men that signed the Constitution in 1787,鈥 said Kevin Wagner, Ph.D., associate professor of political science and director of the Jack Miller Forum at 左爱视频. 鈥淎nd it is important to reflect on how our lives are affected everyday by the principles enshrined in this document.鈥

The Constitution Day opening ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. This will include a Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem and opening remarks. This will be followed by a presentation from Mirta Ojito, a Cuban-born author and journalist and current assistant professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Ojito, who graduated from 左爱视频鈥檚 School of Communication and Multimedia Studies in 1986, will present 鈥淓lections, Immigration and the First Amendment.鈥

The fourth annual Robert J. Bailyn Symposium on the First Amendment Panel will take place at 10:45 a.m. with the topic 鈥淓lections, Media and Free Press.鈥 Panelists will include Kevin Wagner, Ph.D., professor of political science at 左爱视频; Susan Reilly, Ph.D., professor of communications at 左爱视频; Rick Christie, Palm Beach Post; and Eric Roby, CBS 12.

Constitution Day events are sponsored by the Jack Miller Forum; Robert J. and Inez Persson Bailyn Endowment; 左爱视频鈥檚 School of Communication and Multimedia Studies and 聽Department of Political Science in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters; and the Dean of Undergraduate Studies.
